Most employers ask new hires for a Pag-IBIG MID number. If this is your first job, here is what you need and how to get it for free.
This is an independent guide. For official transactions, use the Pag-IBIG Fund website, Virtual Pag-IBIG or a Pag-IBIG branch.
Short Answer
Pag-IBIG registration is free for everyone. You only need a valid ID and your personal details. You do not need a barangay certificate to register with Pag-IBIG.
What You Need
- One valid government-issued ID
- Your personal details, address and contact number
- An email address and mobile number for online registration
How to Register Online
- Go to Virtual Pag-IBIG and choose to register as a new member.
- Fill out the Member’s Data Form (MDF) online.
- Save your Registration Tracking Number (RTN).
- After 2 to 3 working days, verify your permanent MID number in Virtual Pag-IBIG.
Pag-IBIG explains these steps on its Pag-IBIG membership page. See also how to get your Pag-IBIG MID number.
The First-Time Jobseeker Box on the MDF
The Member’s Data Form has a box marked for first-time jobseekers. If you are not yet employed, choose the unemployed or not yet employed status and tick the first-time jobseeker box.
Does RA 11261 Cover Pag-IBIG?
The First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act (RA 11261) removes fees for documents like the police clearance, NBI clearance, barangay clearance, birth certificate, TIN and UMID card. It also covers other government documents that employers require. Pag-IBIG is not named in the list.
This matters little for Pag-IBIG, because registration and your MID number are already free. To use RA 11261 for the other documents, you need a barangay certification that you are a first-time jobseeker, and you can use the benefit only once.
Walk-In Registration
You can also register at any Pag-IBIG branch. Bring a valid ID and fill out the MDF there. Print your MDF if your employer asks for it, see how to get your Pag-IBIG MDF.
